What Happens Now That You Have Created God? (A Kritik of AI & Man)

“How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?”

The Parable of the Madman has always been a fascinating story to me. There is so much emotion in it, and so much foresight. Nietzsche wrote it after reading Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. When he writes about the murder of God, the specific incident he refers to is the release of Darwin’s Theory. I think about that sometimes, what was the specific impetus that triggered those thoughts in Nietzsche’s mind? I think it was just the first page:

This image is commonly referred to as the “Darwin Tree”. There are a few interesting elements about it to highlight, the first is that it is not a tree. It more closely resembles a chemical element designed to look like a tree. And of course, those classic words at the very top, “I Think”. It’s very important that they are at the top, above the tree. In it’s entirety, the symbolism of it is very clear, Science, and Logic, has bested religion. I Think is now above the tree. Standing in stark contrast to the original imagery:

Yes, yes, you killed God! Kudos to you! You placed logic at the top of the tree and proved that science is superior to the tree. Well done! You have even now answered the ultimate question that Nietzsche posed in his parable, “must we ourselves not become Gods to prove worthy of it?” You just chose to create a new God instead. Congratulations, you played yourselves!

Premise 1: An entity that surpasses mankind’s greatest strength is God

Premise 2: Mankind’s greatest strength is its ability to produce logic

Premise 3: AI has currently advanced to the point where it is better than humans in at least some measures of logic, and it is only rapidly improving from there

Conclusion: God Exists

We got to this whole point because Nietzsche destroyed Descartes simple argument, “I Think, Therefore I Am”. If you think that Nietzsche won that debate against Descartes, you cannot prove my conclusion false. The premise is that you should examine every underlying part of your argument, no? You should do that from a lens and a framework that is grounded in logic, yes? If an AI can use your lens and framework better than you can in this instance, how is it not God?
